- you read Yelp reviews and can actually feel your blood pressure go up and down
- people say “ I’ve never seen you in street clothes”
- you work 14 hours in a kitchen and come home and open a food magazine
- your in laws are a nervous wreck about inviting you to dinner parties
- people in grocery stores should move as fast as your cooks
- you still drink an espresso at service time even on your day off
- dissect/analyze every meal with your wife
- your cousin you haven’t talked to in years calls and asks for 8 o’clock reso, and you give it to him, and send out amuses and desserts, then talk shit about him at home
- you get to work at noon and it feels late, like half a day
-you see a new cookbook and think “ how the hell did he get a cookbook deal?”
-your “office” doesn’t have anything in it an office should, except cookbooks and dirty coffee cups and smelly shoes
-you would rather buy new clothes than do laundry
-you fantasize about owning your own place just so you can tell a customer “no”
- the fish guy calls you at six in the morning because there is a problem with your order, ask him what else he has, order that, forget, call him and yell at him later and demand to know who screwed up your order
-have a refrigerator full of condiments
-watch cooking shows and talk back to the tv
-you start to hate people who don’t order the way you think they should
- run a special that doesn’t sell and take it so personally you tell the servers you won’t run specials anymore because people are undeserving
